Designing the Board

I began with reproducing the given board (FabAcademy board design link). To do this I used EAGLE (Application Page). EAGLE is rather easy to use after a short introduction, however the software is not good for novice users and users which are new to designing boards. The drag and drop approach works realy well but finding the correct part in the software which corresponds to your real world part is hard as a novice to electronics.

Beside a Button and a LED I also added a photosensitive resistor and pins for a motorcontroller.

Final Parts List:
  • Attiny 44
  • 3 times a 10k Ω Resistor
  • 220 Ω Resistor
  • Photoresistor
  • Button
  • 1 x 3 Pinheader
  • 1 x 6 Pinheader
  • 2 x 3 Pinheader
  • 1 x 1 μF capacitor
  • Red LED
  • Quartz resonator ( not actually soldered on the board because the internal clock is enough for the planned purpose )

Milling and Soldering

PCB Mill: LPKF ProtoMat S62 PCB Mill (Mill Document)
Soldering Station: AOYUE Int968 A+

I used the same methods as in the week 04 project (Week 04 Project Page) to mill the board and solder the parts onto it.
