DUST CLENEATOR

What is it?

The Dust Cleneator Project is a simple vaccum system that can have a free movement on the floor to help people to clean some particles and make a better place at home, office or industry. Everybody knows that the dust in the air and some particles on the floor, could affect the respiratory system for man, women, children and our pets, if they are young or old, specially when people have illness like: asthma, rhinitis, bronchitis, etc. This DUST CLEANETOR can work twice a day in a simple floor with a carpet, tile, wood floor.

This machine will be very useful for people with physical disabilities and the cleaner will work independently and make intelligent cleaning operations.

MAKING PROCESS

JUSTIFY

When I started to thinking on a robot vaccum, I also was thinking in people who has some kind of disabilities and how I can help them with digital fabrication with the Bits & Atoms knowledge at the FabLab, so many ideas came to my mind and it was a very hard decision to choose a Final Project, but fortunaletly searching into the fabbers world I decided to make a Dust Cleneator machine. Now i would like to introduce few diseases that I search before to make a decision about this project:

The first step was thinking about how to design the model, so after some investigation I decided to make a first configuration:

LASER CUTTING

In order to improve the model I decided to use the laser cutter to make the top with an engrave with some details.

ELECTRONICS AND PROGRAMMING

The electronics and programming part is very important for this project because in these part you will find the control of robot, so the idea is thet the machine can have free movement with ultrasonic sensors that recognize an obtacle and it can try not to crash the wall or an apartus on the flor, thats why at the begining I used ARDUINO to program de PCB, that PCB was created in EAGLE and in the milling machine ROLAND MDX 540 the traces were made. The soldering process of the components was the second step and after that we test so many times that the machine works!

ASSEMBLING THE COMPONENTS

Once the components are made, the next step is assembling and conecting the parts, for this robot machine I made some pre-assemblings like the motor-wheels parts, the top, the case, so when I was sure that every part works OK I tried to assembling the components together ir order to make a performance of the Dust Clenator Project

TESTING THE MACHINE

After that every component is assembled it is time to try and turn the machine on, so at the begining a little troubles happened but it was jus about the conection or the battery, but nothing that you can not solve easyly, the machine need a few changes so I decided to put some leds in the front to iluminate the road when it start to move, and also it needs a kind of brush so with the composites material I made a cover in the back part of the case as you can see in the picture. The ultrosonics sensors are the best solution because at the frist time I used some limit switch sensors and the machine was crashing to every obstacle befor it can change it direction, but with the ultrasonic it just change 10cm before touch something.

At the moment that I was taking the FabAcademy program, I was the FabManager in Yachay, so it is a very interesting experience. In year 2016 it is the first time that we are taking the FAB program so it is time to enjoy it!
