LESSON TEME: Electronics Design

In this week, I tried to design an electric circuit board. At first, I made a schematic design of the board. Next, I drew lines on the board according to the schematic design and made an electric board image. I also drew my own sketch and date. After the design work, I exported a RML file by using fabmodules.org.

Circuit Board Design

As a circuit design tool I used "EAGLE". At first, I added a tool libray for fabacademy, fab.lbr, to EAGLE. Next step was to do "schematic". Several parts in the libray were located on a shematic view of EAGLE. Then, the located parts were connected each other according to a daiagram. As tips of the works, it would be better to use VCC and GND components as many times because the components are gathered in one when we make a board design. NAME and LABEL are also useful functions to connect separeted components when you have a trable that your sheatic view are complexed and intersected by many lines connecting conponents. In that case, at first, draw short lines of each conponents you want to connect and NAME the lines as the same name each other, and then EAGLE shows a dialog to comfirm whether you want to connect these lines or not. So, select YES in the dialog. After connecting the lines, it would be better to use LABEL so that you don't confuse which lines are connecting. After the schematic work, I tried to design an erectric board. In this work, I had to draw lines according to the schematic design as each line must not intersect to other lines. I had some trable in this work that I had a mistake to connect incorrect components so I returend back to the schematic work again and correct the connection and then re-export the circuit board design. It was not bothering work because I can continue the board design at current work point even if I re-export the board design. After finishing the drawing work, I check my electric board whether some circuit lines were intersected or not, and also whether the distance of lines are enough width to mill a PCB by a Milling Machine. In this work, I also have a trable that EAGLE showed an error about the distance. A LED and a line go through below the LED didn't have enough space to mill. So I solved the problem to change the grid size of the board design view from 0.5mm to 0.3mm. I re-located the line as going through just center between the LED legs. After solved the error, I ajusted the boarder line of the board and export it as a PNG image file. Lastly, I drew my own sketch and date on the board image. Although I made a rectangle outline of an electric board in the previous lesson, in this time, I modifiy the outline as a round rectangle. After the design work, I exported an RML file by using fabmodules.org.
