Week 6 - ELECTRONICS DESIGN

Week 6 goals :
Assignment:

Redraw the echo hello-world board, add (at least) a button and LED (with current-limiting resistor), check the design rules, and make it
optional: simulate its operation. Measure its operation

Hardware and softwares used for this assignment :
Hardware :

  - KiCad a free software for electronic circuit design
  - FlatCam free software to transfer electronic circuit schematics to Gcode for milling
  - Arduino IDE free software used for programming the board
- 123D Circuits free online software used for programming the board

and We go:

We designed the circuit using Kicad as it is free software. I quickly tried eagle and finally opted for Kikad as it better fit the purpose. As we used a big CNC, in order to simplify the engraving we used the biggest tracks when possible.


We first designed the pcb schematics.


Then we selected the physical dimensions of the components we used and we generated a network list.


We used the second part of the Kikad software. We positioned the components on the screen to draw the tracks.




After trying different positioning, we found the best option to reduce difficulties.


We created 3 files to enable the engraving of the tracks, to make holes and cut the pcb card.




We used flatcam software to convert the information into a language the CNC understands.


We then milled the pcb board and soldered the components.










We used 123D Circuits for simulating the circuit.

We finally uploaded the program to make the led flash, and it flashes
