What is the idea?

QA Box is an educational game for children. It is a digital interactive box that: Makes a question; Checks the player answer; Says if the answer is correct or not. It could be used in school, museum and other cultural place to learn specific details.

How does it work?

There is a big button that generates a random question when you push it. The player reads the question on a display and answer by inserting the right card into a slot. Each card has a specific profile which is associated to a combination of buttons pressed on the circuit. The microcontroller generates a sound feedback and the display shows a visual one. The graphical interface runs on a Laptop that it is integrated with a laser cut BOX.

The design of the Box

All the pieces of the game and the Laptop fits inside the Box. So you can easily transport and mounted it in everywhere. The Box has a case to transport it. The case becomes a table to support the Box and to let breathe the notebook.

How to assemble my final project.

A reusable Box

I would like that everyone could modify some parts to adapt questions and reuse the game. Maybe the questions could be changed modifying the code and the cards’ stickers.

Which technologies are involved?

I will use:

• Laser cutter for the Box and for the cards;
• Computer Controlled Machine for the case;
• 3D printer for the guide to insert the card;
• Molding and casting for the button (I molded it during molding and casting week);
• Vinyl cutter for the texts and the drawings;
• Milling machine for the electronic circuit designed with Eagle;
• C language to program the ATtiny44 microcontroller;
• Processing environment for the interface.
