Final project


Grey water retreatment project is a solution of biofilter constructional problem. Dr. Yogesh Kulkarni suggest me to take this problem as my project. Basically this grey water tank near to the boys hostel. When tank gets full with water there is growth of masquito happens due to still water. Also odour problem! If we consider Pabal region, then this region is drought prone area. In summer season every drop of water is precious.

The solution of above problem is make aerator for this water. That can helps to add air inside the water and reduce odour of the water. Aerator also took water in turbulant form. which will helps to reduce masquito growth. Another solution is , provide artifial light for grey water which can helps to taking growth of the algue inside the tank.Basically we can provide light for the photosynthesis of algue which will placed inside the tank.

Condition of biofilter.

So, I was planning how to proceed this project and control work with respect to time.I was using gant chart for managing or taking track of this project.

Then ,I decided flow of work.The concept sketch is explain itself about the project planning. I made aerator by using shopbot machine.

But problem came when deciding the power drives for the aerator.After huge conversation with Dr. Subir Bhaduri(who is ex-guide of my DIC project) I decided that making this type of arrangement for the belt drive. I was using shopbot machine for the aerator.

I made metal wheel for belt drive but using plasma cutting machine.The procedure is simple one similar to the laser cutter.In case of laser cutting we use 2D design and file format like Dxf. But in plasma cutter you need to create tool path and generate G code for that specific part file. Take manual setting for the cutting and set 36% speed for cutting.

In my project these two Vinayak and Bipin (who is student of DBRT) has valueable contrubution.

Before this I took trial on grey water by using artificial lightning. I was taking 6 days trial on grey water with LED light. There is non effect on Odour of the water. But algue biomass decreases upto half amount.The next time I was taking 24 hour test on grey water. The results are varies like , biomass increases 2% the sample of 30 gm. Actually I am working the packaging and protecting the electonic devices of project. I was using acrilic box for protecting this devices.

For making this project automated I was designing input board and output board. I was designing relay with microcontroller for making motor ON or OFF state.

Also I made water level sensor which can sense the water level inside the tank and gives signal to the motor. I wrote program for that such as when water comes up at the aerator level then signal will send to the motor and motor gets ON state. Actually I am not good coder still I am learning coding and related all stuff.

As Neil's suggestion I was making acrelic casing by using laser cutting machine for the protecting the electronic stuff. This corrections I was making after final project presentation. All original files such as 2D, 3D , shop bot, and plasma files you can get in download folder. I was using water sensor and relay board for the aerator motion . Also I was using 3D printing for this project. I made socket for the motor outlet. I was adding bill of material in week 17 assignment.
