What is the deadline? How much time do I have left?
We had set out deadline for 12th so that if our presentation date is on 14th, we will get 2 days for troubleshooting. As of today we have 5 more days left.
What tasks have been completed, and what tasks remain?
- I have completed PCB design, milling and stuffing components.
- Also, side arm designs are also ready but plywood cutting is not done yet.
- I have completed the 3D designings. Need to print them next.
- Mobile app is almost ready. But embedded programming is incomplete. Celestial body postion calculations and trakking part are done. I will test the app once I finish the coding.
- Laser cutting the box has to be done.
- Some materials like paint, belts, pulley have to b bought from market
How will I complete the remaining tasks in time?
We have a to-do list with final date for each part written on a white board infront of us. We check if we are running on schedule everyday. As of today its working fine. I have been spending more time in lab these days. We hope we could finish the project on time.
What has worked?
- Electronic board is working fine. I had used it in 'networking' and 'application designing' week.
- I had tested the serial communication and bluetooth communication.
- I tried assembling each part of side-arm design in onshape. It looks fine.
- Trakking code was tested in our old go-to telescope done in machine building week. Tracking was successful.
What hasn't?
Things that are completed until now are is woking fine.
What questions still need to be resolved?
Live streaming from telescope through app is the one thing I am still concerned about. I think its heavy work. So I have kept it for last. Another thing is, how accurate the tracking would be?
What have you learned?
That's a big question. I learned lot of new stuffs in last few months. I had many sleepless nights, but to be honest I enjoyed each and every moments I spent in Lab. Whole mechanical side covered in fabacademy including 3D designing were totally new to me. Also this course helped me to refresh my knowledge in electronics. I think there is a good improvement in my debugging skills. A big thanks to the whole people behind Fabacademy!
