Week 9:Mechanical design

1. Idea
About MTM which is the assignments of this week, I was thinking about ideas while watching my previous work video.

However, a pretty good idea did not come up. While arguing with Guru based on examples of past works, a story of "Egg Bot" came out.

I thought that we could introduce it in our FabLab workshop etc if I can make food system machine. I decided to design based on "egg bot".
As a result of discussions with Guru, it became interesting that machines that paint chocolate to bananas are interesting.
Stick a banana and straighten it. "Banana Bot" draw chocolate from a tube like ink and draw a picture there.

2. Concept of "Banana Bot"
I named the robot to be produced "banana bot".
I thought about the mechanism using three axes as shown in the figure. The mechanism for extruding chocolate was based on the 3D data distribution site.

I thought that the syringe could be pushed out and chocolate could be delivered by the rotation of the motor. The joining method of the Z axis and the banana stick needs to be devised. I made a diagram of my previous vision. I also made a video.



3. Preparation for production
With reference to the site below, I made a motor control board and USB connection board.

The flat cable and the connector were connected.
I soldered the USB cable to the connection board. I connected each board.








The power supply was set to 12V, 1A. Each axis was set.




Guru set up a control program by Python. It was made possible to control according to G code. Using the spreadsheet, test data for each axis was prepared.


It was confirmed that three axes could move and that a predetermined movement could be realized.


Future plans
I will exhibit the machines we produced in the laboratory, demonstrate at the event, and plan to use it for advertising in the laboratory.
