1. Plan and sketch a potential final project

1. FINAL PROJECT IDEA

In Peru we have approximately 12 hours of light during the summer and we still have a significant percentage of people living without access to electricity. My project seeks to integrate the new tools in a useful, helpful and sustainable object that will respond to this need by making a lamp that works with solar energy.

The idea starts from having a versatile object. An object composed of pieces that can be assembled in different ways giving different objects results. In this way everyone "composes" their lamp.

The modular design allows to occupy the least amount of space possible which makes it very portable.

I always liked the Floss May Day lamp design and its possibility to adapt to different spaces, so I will take it as a good reference.

The lamp can be loaded with the help of integrated solar panels that are part of the final design, it will have special accessories that allow to hang the object of a horizontal or vertical surface.

The lamp can be manufactured in different materials allowing anyone in the world near a fablab manufacture their own lamp in the material that is available.

2. PROJECT MANAGEMENT

To organize the tasks that I need to carry out I will use the Trello platform. Trello allows me to organize the tasks by item and to be able to follow them by checking the completed tasks in the checklist. You can follow this tutorial from Trello: http://bit.ly/1UWqaSj

The first thing I usually do when I work on Trello is to list the tasks I have to do. Each of these tasks will have a card. Trello allows you to organize your own tasks, that is why the text in my case is in Spanish which is my mother tongue. Use the example of the idea of organization but create your own boards with tasks.

Inside each card I place a checklist that helps me to map all the steps that make up that task.

In this way as I go forward or finish each step I can mark them in the list.

Trello shows your percentage of progress in each of the cards.

You can also attach pictures or documents inside each of your cards. But I will do this later while I develop my final project.

You can also share your cards with the people who work the project with you.

To organize the tasks according to their times I will use Gantt. It's the first time I'm going to use this program so I'll see how friendly it is. You can follow this tutorial from Trello: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pF5K2jS-UF0
