hi again, it's the composites week, i think i have a good experience with the composites now!, last year :

last year we made an iron man suit using the laser cutting machine for Cairo mini maker faire, so i decided to make it a composite inspite of foam

but in this year, my mentor told me that my composite part needs to be fabricated with a machine,, so i build w new part for EVE robot

i really love the movie BTW! So, let's start our journey with the composites! :D

Last year assignment

last year we were organizing "Cairo Mini Maker Faire", we thought that cosplayers are a very important part of makers

So we decided to build an iron man suit to be used as a show case - also because many makers love iron man & i'm one of them :D "

so, here's the steps :

the first part was iron man shoulder, i covered the foam part to protect it

then i started putting the first layer and cover it with epoxy

i put 5 layers (2 horizontal, one vertical and two cross)

then i left it to dry

and here's the final result :

as i mentioned, in this year my mentor told me that my part needs to be fabricated using one of our machines

so, the first step was designing the model : ( all files available here week13.rar )

after designing the required parts let's cut them using the laser cutting machine

and now assemble it

after that i added the mixed gypsum
