in this week we're going to make a mold and cast parts from it

last year i designed a mold then started milling it over the Roland modela but this year i tried something new which i really need, it's a wheel... before starting talking about the wheel let me show you some photos of my last year assignment,,,

This year as i said i was trying to use new techniques and materials to build my model and start casting

my target is to make a wheel replace this one :

because it is no longer available at the components stores

so, the first step was designing the wheel, i started designing the wheel on solidworks, all files are available here

then i printed it through the 3D printer and cut an acrylic circular base on the laser cutting machine, now the mold is ready, so, the question is what kind of material should i use?

last year i used silicone rubber but it has low friction, so i decided to use PMC to gain more friction "mixing ratio is 1:1"

after it dried let's lift the mold

it works!! :D

and here we go ^_^ it worked perfectly, now we can make all our wheels
