17. Applications and Implications

Assignments

propose a final project that integrates the range of units covered, answering:

  1. What will it do?
  2. Who's done what beforehand?
  3. What materials and components will be required?
  4. Where will they come from?
  5. How much will it cost?
  6. what parts and systems will be made?
  7. what processes will be used?
  8. what tasks need to be completed?

My final project is SMART suitcase

What will it do?

It will be a smart carry-on suitcase named "SMART SUITCASE - The Follower Friend" - which will follow the traveller around automatically. It will be useful for travellers having physical health issues or for the people who have to carry lot of things at the same time while travelling.

Who's done what beforehand?

A company named as 'Travelmate Robotics' have designed a robotics suitcase which will follow the user. They have used GPS for tracking the user location.

What materials and components will be required?

I will be using ultrasonic transmitter& receiver for making the suitcase to follow the user. I will be using 100 rpm 12v dc motors & one steering wheel. For now, I will be making suitcase using thermocol/foam.

Where will they come from?

I will buy Electronics components from local electronics shop. And I will get foam from our lab itself.

what parts and systems will be made?

I will make the base on which suitcase will be palced using 3D printing. Also, i will make wheels & casing for PCBs using 3D printing. I will make electronics boards using PCB milling method. And I will make suitcase using foam.

what processes will be used?

Following processes will be used :
1.Computer Aided Design
2. 3D printing
3.Electronics Design
4. Electroncis production
5. Embedded Programmimg

what tasks need to be completed?

Till now, I have completed electronics part and I have checked the circuit & embedded code on a ready-made 3 wheel robot. Next task to be completed is to design my own chasis, wheels & suitcase, 3D print the required parts, assemble them & test the circuit with actual final assembly.
