The difference is that if Fab Snails is not happy, she can turns into a real stalker!
(Also on your mobile -.-)

So take care of Fab Snail, she is a good snail...
She is just different from the other snails!"

Weekly Assignment

The weekly assignment was:

  • Develop a plan for dissemination of your final project

For this week i've investigated three type of licenses:

I'm a firm supporter of the free software principles and i share completely the four freedoms principles:
  • Freedom 0: The freedom to run the program for any purpose.
  • Freedom 1: The freedom to study how the program works, and change it to make it do what you wish.
  • Freedom 2: The freedom to redistribute and make copies so you can help your neighbor.
  • Freedom 3: The freedom to improve the program, and release your improvements (and modified versions in general) to the public, so that the whole community benefits.

By the way, i think that this philosopy is more suitable for completely software-based project. Moreover, i think that is too radical and i don't want to completely preclude the possibility to use my work in a commercial project. For this reason i've decided to move towards another license.
i've then investigated the creative commons license. This kind of license is more flexible and you can choose under what conditions you want to release your project and you can preclude or allow the possibility to use it for commercial purpose.
I was also curious to read something about the MIT license which is included in any of Neil's sketches. I've understood that the MIT License is very similar to the CC license but it is not possible to preclude the possibility to other people to take and sell your project. For summarizing averything, i've found this two charts which compares the different licenses:

For Theese reasons i've choose the creative commons license (with the share alike option).
Actually, i do not have a precise idea on what i will continue to develop my project. I'm sure that i want to let other people to modify my project and to share their changes because i'm convinced that the work of a community of people can really improve things (and the world itself) and also small ideas can become great projects!
