design and make a 3D mold (~ft2), and produce a fiber composite part in it
Step1, I designed and make a big button in MDF (in positive) given that this will be part of my final project. I designed it in Rhino and then cut in the laser cutter .
Step 2: Add wax so the material can get out easily
Step 3: Add Gel Coat so you can get an even surface. This substance needs a catalyst so it dries faster. We needed to add for every 100mL of Gel Coat approximately you need approximately 60 drops of catalyst (which is the same catalyst that you used for the resin)
Step 4: Add resin (PP250) together with fiberglass. The resin PP250 needs also a catalyst (the same we used for the Gel Coat) and I added 60 drops for every 100mL. You need to cut small pieces of fiber glass and overlap them in different directions.
Step 5: Add resin after placing the fiber glass and use the brush as if you push it over the material because it is sticky.
