Exercise 07

Computer-controlled Machining

For this assignment I took an image of my final project and made a vector graphics of it with Inkscape (svg file) and exported that to a .dxf file. The softwar CamBam was used to generate the G-Code file which creates the path for the mill. The software Mach3 for the (Stepcraft-2/420 Desktop CNC System)milling machine lets the user change several settings. I used only one drill (6mm endmill with 2 flutes) for the whole process since there was no need for high details. The feed was 1400mm/min with a rotation speed of 20,000 rpm. That is because this is the mold for exercise 07 composite. Furthermore I adjusted the depth per run to 6cm such that the one run is sufficent which saved 10 minutes. I also decreased the overlapping to reduce the required time furtehr by 3 minutes. In the end it took 7.25 minutes.
