01. Concept

I am planning to make a small sized Vacuum former as my Library's Fab lab is a small lab and space is an issue.
Here is my concept design.

I plan to use an Arduino based controller to control the temperature, audio, LCD and LED to have both visual and audio ques.

My concept is using a thermistor and detect the temperature and when the temperature is optimum for the plastic material, it will have a light indicator and a sound to indicate the plastic is prime for vacuum forming.

Heating element

Taking references online, I found out there is a kind of heater called Ceramic heater(650W) which uses 240V to heat up.
My plan is to use the thermistor to detect the temperature, and will trigger the relay to maintain the temperature.

Micro Controller

I will be using the Fabkit 0.4 by satshakit to be used as the controller.

Other Parts list

- Thermistor Module
- Relay
- 1206 LCD with I2C module
- 230V to 5V DC
- Buttons
- 650W 230V ceramic heater 120x120mm

Body of Vacuum Former

I am planning to mill out/ Laser Cut 5mm Plywood and using copper pipes to be the sliders.

Plastic to be formed

HIPS (High Impact Polystyrene (HIPS)) - 80 to 90 Degrees C
