2D design

Use Inkscape to design the 2D model

My homework - Project Model

Get PDF here Get svg here

How to use the Inkscape

     Get Inkscape

1.Create a new file
2.decide the file's properities
3.draw a draft of your project and use the layer
you can diff/... two object:
you can decide which layer the object should be in
you can also upward/... one layer
4.make it less opacity and then draw a new one based on the draft
5.use the tools to make your project more accurate
By using these tools, I create a initial draft of my project-2D print
a light

How I draw it:

(I am planing to draw a 2D version of my project - a light) 1. Using the tool - circle to draw a circle and put it into the layer 1 2. repeat the step1 and create different circle , set different radium - and put it into different layer 3. upward the layer of the light and downward the layer of the module ( the module is the black one, the light bulb is the one drawing by using two circle and cut the different part - use the tool differ) 4. Draw the main control computer inside and finish my design.

3D design

Use the fusion360 to design youe project
        My project:

( haven't been put together yet. ) I try many software this week:123D, Fusion360, AutoCAD, Soildwork, FreeCAD. And I used the FreeCAD to design my project (You have seen it just now.) But, to be honest, I fount it really hard to use the FreeCAD while designing my project. It took me nearly a day finding the sources to learn how to use the FreeCAD and get familiar with it. And I fount it really easy to use the Fusion360 later (while doing the week3 homework - design a press-fit preject with parametic). So later I use the Fusion360 to design my project. - And I really recommend this software. Get my homework here

How to use the Fusion360 to draw a 3D project. ( I recommend to use it instead of the FreeCAD )

1. Download a Fusion360 and install it ( you can search it in Google ) 2. Launch the Fusion360 and sign in your account. 3. Create a New profile and save it into the cloud. 4. Start to design your project:
1. Create a new component. 2. Start a sketch. 3. Use tools to design a 2D format of your project. 4. Pad/Extrude your design: 5. Modify your 3D project: 6. You can also optimize your design by using other tools: *1Construct *2Assemble

The use of other softwares

Actually, I tried several softwares in this week.

for the 2D design software:

I tried the Coredrawl since it is needed to be used when I want to printed it out on laser-cutter or vinyl cutter.

Bézier curve is a really useful tool on Coredrawl

Additionally, I used Fusion360 as a 2D design tool since I can design both 2D file and 3D file through it.

I get used to the Fusion360 at last and I always use it to design both 2D and 3D file.

For the 3D design software:

I tried so many softwares such as the Fusion360, FreeCad, blender, Rhino and AutoCad

But I get used to Fusion360 at last although it has some bug, sometimes I need to reopen it to make sure it work.

I really find it hard to use the FreeCAD although professor Neil seems to like it.

The design file and the picture above( in 3D design section ) is designed through FreeCAD

But it is really hard to use ( I think ), I need to switch the mode frequently since I am not good at 3D design

Additionally, Fusion360 is a really good software that fusion many features of other 3D design software.

It can be used as the parameter software, which is great. But it is not as hard as the Pro/E

As a result, I finally use Fusion360 to design both 2D and 3D file.
