WEEK18-INVENTION INTELLLECTUAL PROPERTY AND BUSINESS MODELS

• Summarised two kinds of licences and explained why you chose one.

Intellectual property refers to creations of the intellect for which a monopoly is assigned to designated owners by law. I searched some licenses, like GPL, LGPL, BSD, CC. These licenses can protect your rights.
GPL (GNU General Public License) is a widely used for free software license, which guarantees end users the freedom to run, study, share and modify the software.

LGPL (GNU Lesser General Public License) is a free software license published by the Free Software Foundation. The license allows developers and companies to use and integrate software released under the LGPL into their own (even proprietary) software without being required by the terms of a strong copyleft license to release the source code of their own components. The license only requires software under the LGPL be modifiable by end users via source code availability.

BSD (Berkeley Software Distribution) is a family of permissive free software licenses, imposing minimal restrictions on use and redistribution of covered software. This is in contrast to copyleft licenses, which have reciprocity share-alike requirements.

Creative Commons (CC) is an American non-profit organization devoted to expanding the range of creative works available for others to build upon legally and to share. The organization has released several copyright-licenses known as Creative Commons licenses free of charge to the public. These licenses allow creators to communicate which rights they reserve, and which rights they waive for the benefit of recipients or other creators. Creative Commons licenses do not replace copyright, but are based upon it. They replace individual negotiations for specific rights between copyright owner (licensor) and licensee, which are necessary under an "all rights reserved" copyright management, with a "some rights reserved" management employing standardized licenses for re-use cases where no commercial compensation is sought by the copyright owner. The result is an agile, low-overhead and low-cost copyright-management regime, profiting both copyright owners and licenses.

I choose CC license attribution share alike (CC BY-SA). This license lets others remix, tweak, and build upon your work even for commercial purposes, as long as they credit you and license their new creations under the identical terms. This license is often compared to “copyleft” free and open source software licenses. All new works based on yours will carry the same license, so any derivatives will also allow commercial use. This is the license used by Wikipedia, and is recommended for materials that would benefit from incorporating content from Wikipedia and similarly licensed projects. People can use my project then my project can be more perfect and improve my project.

• Imagined and outlined possibilities and described how to make them probabilities

In my project the motion of car is from the gravity, and the turning is controlled by servo the power is from battery. If the turning power is also from the gravity, it will be better. So I will add a set that can change gravity to electricity. This project can show power change well so I can used in classes, students can know these well, also good for students awareness on green energy and environmental protect.
