ASSIGNMENT 1: Making stickers

VINYL CUTTING

Vinyl cutting was the most simplest machine to learn. The vinyl cutting is a type of computer controlled machine which works in one axis and cuts the material with a specific force defined and the speed. The small Roland vinyl cutter look like type writer. The computer can control the movement of a sharp blade which cuts the vinyl/ the material used for cutting. This blade is used to cut out shapes and letters from sheets of thin self-adhesive plastic (vinyl).

To get started with Vinyl cutting I downloaded Cut studio. Roland's powerful CutStudio software provides the necessary tools to design and create professional custom cut graphics for a wide range of applications, including signs, decorated apparel, vehicles, point-of-purchase materials, backlit displays and much more.

The first thing that I worked on the vinyl cutter is to load the material and check the zero of the machine or the origin of the sheet.

Select the Sheet type - Roll, Edge, Piece depending on the input you give.

Selected the Roll as I used it for the Vinyl Cutting

Test file could be used to check the cutting force which will ensure that the cutting depth is sufficient

to cut the loaded vinyl sheet. Try using test till you get a nice sticker cutout of the machine

After doing a test run your all set to start making your own sticker so get started you can also add some text to your png image directly while using Cutstudio

Sticker created own could be used as logo of some firm. Enjoyed the task !!

LASER CUTTING

The specifications of the laser cutter is :
