Invention, Intellectual Property And Income

INTRODUCTION

Invention is making something new for the first time whether it be a device or a process, but invention on its own is never enough. There can be many examples of inventions, but if all those inventions would have been only kept aside after inventing by anybody then we would not have known about those and even wouldn't have been so developed what we are now. So basically after invention Commercialization is the most important key to bring it in front of the world, that is what completes the whole process of Innovation (Invention & Commercialization).

INVENTION:

The project is innovative since this kind of project is not available till now , but not innovative since all the part are available and we need to combine in such a way that can form a innovative.

Licensing/ Intellectual Property

I studied 2 licenses for this assignment:

Creative common & Apache License

Creative Commons License:

"A Creative Commons (CC) license is one of several public copyright licenses that enable the free distribution of an otherwise copyrighted work. A CC license is used when an author wants to give people the right to share, use, and build upon a work that he/she has created.

CC provides an author flexibility for a person (he/she might) to choose only non-commercial uses of his/her own work and protects the people who use or redistribute an author's work from concerns of copyright infringement.
This will be effective if the person distributes authors work in the same way like an author does.

Apache License

The Apache License, Version 2.0 (ALv2) is a permissive free software license written by the Apache Software Foundation (ASF).[5]The Apache License requires preservation of the copyright notice and disclaimer. Like other free software licenses, the license allows the user of the software the freedom to use the software for any purpose, to distribute it, to modify it, and to distribute modified versions of the software, under the terms of the license, without concern for royalties. This makes ALv2 a FRAND-RF license. The ASF and its projects release the software they produce under the Apache License and many non-ASF projects are also using the ALv2.

A free software license is a notice that grants the recipient extensive rights to modify and redistribute that software. These actions are usually prohibited by copyright law, but the rights-holder (usually the author) of a piece of software can remove these restrictions by accompanying the software with a software license which grants the recipient these rights. Software using such a license is free software (or free and open source software) as conferred by the copyright holder. Free software licenses are applied to software in source code as also binary object code form, as the copyright law recognizes both forms.

What did I choose ?

I picked one of the above by looking at the following criteria for both the licenses: Linking, Distribution, Modification, Patent Grant, Private Use & Sublicensing.
By understanding both these licenses I found out, that both these license allow linking, distribution and modification. Creative commons allowed me to license my work under CC-BY-NC under which I can share my work with others but the person who uses it cannot use it without my acknowledgement

So for Creating the License I went to the Creative Commons site and started the licensing process. In my license I am going to allow others to modify my work and developing on it while giving me due credits, and to use my work for commercial purpose. I am licensing these in this form because I want this concept to grow and it's something which I want people out to explore more. It can also be used for commercial purpose as its the whole point of it. The whole process of licensing the project in creative commons is shown below:

After licensing the following copyright was generated:

Autodesk123dMake CIAS by Amit Yadav is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License.

YOU ARE FREE TO:

• SHARE — COPY AND REDISTRIBUTE THE MATERIAL IN ANY MEDIUM OR FORMAT

• ADAPT — REMIX, TRANSFORM, AND BUILD UPON THE MATERIAL FOR ANY PURPOSE, EVEN COMMERCIALLY.

THE LICENSOR CANNOT REVOKE THESE FREEDOMS AS LONG AS YOU FOLLOW THE LICENSE TERMS.

UNDER THE FOLLOWING TERMS:

• ATTRIBUTION — YOU MUST GIVE APPROPRIATE CREDIT, PROVIDE A LINK TO THE LICENSE, AND INDICATE IF CHANGES WERE MADE. YOU MAY DO SO IN ANY REASONABLE MANNER, BUT NOT IN ANY WAY THAT SUGGESTS THE LICENSOR ENDORSES YOU OR YOUR USE.

• NO ADDITIONAL RESTRICTIONS — YOU MAY NOT APPLY LEGAL TERMS OR TECHNOLOGICAL MEASURES THAT LEGALLY RESTRICT OTHERS FROM DOING ANYTHING THE LICENSE PERMITS.

Motivation and Income

I am trying to develop a device called CIAS (Crash instant alert system) for my final project, which will notify the respective family members, whenever an accident has occurred the. Future development:
I would like to develop addon’s to this kit, where in we can detect a crash properly. Calibration of the MPU6050. Inclusion of GPRS system to send data of the location where the accident has occurred.

I will showcase my project at Maker Mela India (www.makermela.com) which is India's biggest maker gathering.
The motivation behind developing this device is very clear. I want to get a betterment in the rescue systems of the accidents that occur day to day.I have already started getting test pieces for this device from two vehicles of my colleagues. The income for this project will be from direct sales of the devices (CIAS devices), which I plan to manufacture

PRESENTATION SLIDE

I started to prepare my final presentation slide for my final project , it's shown below:
