APPLICATIONS AND IMPLICATIONS

                       

 

 

 

The assignment in this week is to plan and document final  project that integrate range of units discovered.

 

What will it do?

The idea is to make an inflatable coin bank.The inflatable coin bank is a decorative coin bank which grows in size with each coin inserted and stored therein.

 

In brief: The inflatable coin bank includes a flexible housing with a coin receptacle received therein. The receptacle has a slot formed therethrough for receiving the coins. A sensor is mounted adjacent the slot formed through the receptacle for selectively generating an actuation signal when a coin passes through the slot. An inflatable bladder is further received within the flexible housing. An air pump is in communication with the inflatable bladder and the sensor, such that the air pump partially inflates the inflatable bladder with a predetermined volume of air when the sensor generates the actuation signal. In this way, the inflatable bladder grows in volume with each insertion of a coin through the slot.

Who has done what beforehand?

There are many animal or character coin banks available.There are many piggy banks as well. But as i went through these products. I couldn't find any item similar to what i thought. This inflatable coin bank with the character shape will be a new one. I already took the patent for this.

What materials and components will be required?

       IR sensor for  sensing Coin.

       Battery.

       Air pump (5V).

       Receptacle  and door (3D printed).

       Inflatable bladder.

       Deflation valve.

       Controller

       Resistors and capacitors

       LEDs.

       Speaker/Audio Output.

       Animal character enclosure.

       Copper plate for milling PCB.

 

Where will they come from?

Sensors and other components is available in the fablab.I can 3D print the receptacle ,door  and assemble them.Animal character i can purchase from toyshop or from any other places locally.Also i need to check Air bladder availability in local area.If it is not available i will order from ebay.

 

How much will it cost?

SMD components(resistors and capacitor,Attiny)about 3$ in total and IR sensor available in locally cost 4$ and 5V battery 15 $ and 2.5$ for air pump and air bladder 15$ . 12$ for the character toy.Total  of 52 KD .Approximately 55 USD total.

 

What parts and systems will be made?

Electronic parts will be assembled in PCb and Wires to connect between sensor and controller.3d printed parts for enclosure ,doors and other mechanical structures.

       Computer Aided designing(3D design of mechanical parts).

       Electronic design

       Electronic Production: for making PCB

       Embedded programming: programming microcontroller

       3D printing

       Input and output device.

       Vinyl cut design

       How much accurate it will be for different coins

What is the schedule?

       Electronic design and production  2 Days (07/06/2017)

       Programming and Testing of sensors.

       3D design and printing 2 days(11/06/2017)

       Assembling ,fixing and Improvements 1 Day max (13/06/2017)

How will it be evaluated?

 

I hope that it will be successful up to an extend and it will work fine.
