From raihno to Gcode to shopbot

This week we learned how to work with the the cnc machine and the assigment was to make something big. i remembered once that i saw a beautiful shape looked like a skeleton of a big whale and i thought that i can take this idea and make a wodden hammock using the same thecnic. the first challange in the way was to understand hoe to create this shall form and after a whole days of playing around with rhaino and illustrator i decided to start making the basic form in 2D and the scale it and try to make the form i wanted. Imagening the whole form i draw a curve shape and marked the holes where i wanted to pass the rope later.

After making the section draw i imported it to rhino, made 2 more copys of the basic form, scaled them and moved them usung mirror command 80 cm away from the center sa i wated my shape will be 180 cm more or less in total.

now i wanted to create a solid from my section draw and for this reason i used the command Loft that worked like magic and created me a form curved lines between the ages and the centerd form.

the next steps is to make the rounded corners of the shape and for this reason i used first the command duplicated edges to be able to asolate the curved i wanted to connect together adn then with the command Blend crv i connected them together with a curved line.

after finishing with that i started to work on the ¨tube" that presents the holes i wanted to have in each one of the peaces of the hammock so i could pass the rope between them. i used again the command Loft to creat a long tube the cross all the shape from both sides.
