The goal of this assignment is get comfortable with the some 2D and 3D software and describe the processes used in modelling with them.
Modelled experimental objects/part of a possible project in 2D and 3D software
Shown how you did it with words/images/screenshots
Included your original design files
Try as many 2D/3D softwares you can
I did different shapes with the Inkscape to familiarizate myself with it.
I also tried with FreeCAD, I did a cardinal star. I selected the 'Draft' and I did the different shapes with 'DraftWire'.
I did a honeycomb with SolidWorks. First I did the different pieces and later I assembly them.
When you opened this program you can chose between:Piece: you do the piece.
Assembly: when you have some different pieces and you want to assemble them.
Drawing: It is useful to do the plan of a specific piece.
When you did the piece you have to do the sketch in one of the plane: Front Plane, Top Plane or Right Plane. Now you can draw, on the top tool bar you can choose what you want: squares, lines, circles, etcetera. When you finish your sketch you can see that all the lines are blue, now you have to select the 'Smart Dimension' to give the size of all the lines. You can see, that when you give the sizes some lines change their color to black, this indicates that the black lines are fixed. If you select some lines you can give them some properties: parallel, perpendicular, horizontal, vertical, the same lenght, etcetera.
After that, when all your sketch is black, close it and use a operation to transform this sketch to a solid in 3D.
To assembly different pieces you have to insert them and later give them relations with the position.
