Developing a website using HTML and CSS

Even if i had a very few knowledge about software able to produce HTML & CSS, i started and managed to use atom

With a huge late in the training, i tried to do quickly my website and to present a first idea of my final project. Maybe alone in my course, i needed to use an existing template and modify it, rather than creating the website from scratch.To be able to start quickly, Saverio proposed me to use the template called Agency :

We could say that the better way would have been to use only our skill to create from scratch and news skills. But the results would have been less rewarding. When i sew gaps and deficiencies i have compares to other students, it give me a little happiness before hard times.



Git vs Me

For me the main subject of this assignment is to learn ho to use GIT, which is a version control system. I try to use it alone without success and much despair. In addition to my ignorance, i had a mysterious pb with my password. Anyway, Saverio and Aldo helped me and after a while i managed to use Git.
For me, maybe more than other students, GIT was a little bit difficult to understand and use at the beginning.I ddint generate a generate the SSH Key myself but with Saverio i cloned my folder from the repository to my computer, the rest was easier and after a while I am finally able to use it.
Even if it consists on passing lines of command into the Mac Terminal and could afraid someone like me, basically it is quite simple to communicate with the Git Lab once it is configured, only in the frame of my new skill !



Rhino and Grasshopper

Rhino is 3D modeling software i use for simple sketch and Grasshopper is a editing plugin for Rhino and it works with what they call graphical algorithms. But on Mac Grasshopper is only a beta version.

The second one was to design more complex objet using some to the many editing options.

After that, we had a presentation of Grasshopper which works completely differently but in a very efficient way. It is a editing plugin for Rhino and it works with what they call graphical algorithms. To create your design, you have to use components from a vast library. Each components has inputs et outputs. By linking them together you can build complex designs little by little, that you can then very easily transform. Grasshoppers being a plugin for Rhino, you can directly visualize what you do in Rhino’s viewport. Too bad that Rhino is only available for a 2 weeks evaluation on Mac…



Presentation of my Final Project

"Logograph" is the technical branch of a global proposition - the Wallpaper project - imagined for libraries users : a workshop on issues of new digital chains of personnal fabrication. More specifically targeting young people, it aims to promote junior designer's / typographer's works from the collections of libraries. With the Wallpaper project, we organise meeting between young designers and the public and we'll try to make different sections of the library work together. As soon as the participant is sufficiently inspired by the atmosphere of the artist, we ask him to draw one letter and download it on the "Logograph". The letter chosen appears on the screen. With our remote control "Logograph", the participant has different possibilities to turn his letter into a pattern. The remote control suggests numbers, distances, rotations, symetries and a recording button. The pattern is extruded and can be seen directly on a 3D view of the pattern. It can be 3D printed like a skin for a small paint roll and be used for the personal wallpaper design.

A research at "Les Arts Codes"

I often use 3D printers (Makerbot2 or Ultimaker) with a scanner (Sense device) for public workshops. For this assignment, i would like to share with you a research in progress at "Les Arts Codes". In-Flexion Design Studio (Les Arts Codés) developped a program which generates vase's sketch by voice ("processing" software).

Learning the process of design and production to demonstrate correct workflows and identify areas for improvement

For this assignment i worked with the tools there are in my lab - The Nouvelle Fabrique - which are very similar to the WOMA's technical park. This part is surely the less hard for me even if i learnt many things during the wenesday's lecture and the technical presentation of Saverio. My lab " La Nouvelle Fabrique" is focusing on new ways to make locally furniture. We are close from OpenDesk's team and we shared many things with them as such sketches you can find on opendesk's librairy like "Roxanne Chair" or " Johann stool" for exemple. We also did Wikihouse's samples and many différent furnitures.



For this week my proposition is to make a toy i call "Arbajet", a crossbow for paper plane. The project is to make a smart design to have a final sheet which could be offer like a present with a minimum of scrap wood. I also want it very easy to asemblate for children, without screw or glue. The project is not really big but the effect on children will be huge

I use 3 différent materials to create the asemblage and the mecanism :

Challenges

With the advice of Saverio, i try to gain time by thinking (thati really need !) and designing the project in 2D. The 2sd difficulty will be to shape the project in order to optimise thickness of the crossbow to be use by young children. At last i imagine a very simple mecanism to create the plane's propulsion with the trigger which controls the mecanism for propulsion via a rubber band. -





ArtCam

Such as "Vcarve", "ArtCam" allows us to definy a strategy of cutting/creating pocket with differents tools we choose. Each layer definy a cut by is deepth or/and an associate bit. The most important thingis to calibrate the CNC before to create values for the cut file, especially if you need a very sharp result.



Panel's router control

The CNC use TypeIII's software. After i calibrate the tools with the table (Z absolute with board martyrdom) and the origin for the job (relative origin) , i switch on the vacum table and the vacumcleaner for dust. There is a changer tool with the CNC : i used a conic's bit to engrave with a 6mm's bit to do all the other layers
