3D Scanning and Printing

This week started running a few tests on our 3d printer [DeltaWASP 20x40].
I designed with Rhino an openable cover for my FabISP, which needed a 0,7mm flat surface to reach the right thickness of a USB port.

The cover shape has been thought to be printed without any support material.
The model was exported from Rhino as a stl file and its gcode was generated from [Cura], the final object was printed in PLA.
Our machine has printed everything in 30mins and at the first try!!! yeah!
Here you can download the [STL file]. and the [gcode] in which you can find the settings i used for printing.

For the scanning exercise, i started scanning me and my girlfriend thanks to a [kinect] and the [Skanect] software.

At the first scanning attempt, i got an incomplete and full of holes 3d model, but at the second shoot the mesh turned out quite good, it just got fixed with some simple Skanect tools.

I exported then a stl file and printed everything with the same settings i used for the ISPcover. check the final result out...

Download the [.stl files] here.
