Assignment 18: Invention, Intellectual property, and Income

Is invention enough? No, not at all. Trust me, it's not. Think about greatest inventions of the century. Invention is the thing when somebody makes a something very first time that may be the process, method or machine. This is what the invention is so, it's not useful. Very simple example to give is of mp3 decoder chip, which was invented by the fraunhofer btu it was not of use this chip is not directly serving the society. But later Apple came up with the portable mp3 player or iPod which was. And thus people took it over. Thus, to sum-up I can say.

Innovation = Invention + Commercialization

Invention

Project there is invention which is having a system or process where FABLABs can do their financial transactions using the POS terminal and web portal as well. I've tried to integrate the things which are already in existence and tried to have a unified system which can benefit the FAB community. This wil really helpful for the FABBERs to collect appreciations and get the money out of their own projects. It will be easy to get the access of any of the FABLAB over the globe. Infact can make the FABLABs to come closer.

Purpose of project

The project is developed for avoiding problems like,

  • Money can be stole but virtual money can't
  • The organizations like FabLab can't be sustain without support, in this students work for FABLAB and earn credits to use machines/tools and equipments
  • Money flow in the organization or at small geo-location can't be controlled
  • To encourage the use of locally made goods

Motivation and Income

Project encourages the use of local products within geographical locations. The project Mudra can be worked implemented over the wide range applications. I've listed following ways to generate income from the project.

1. Install these systems and charge and transaction

One time installation cost can be charged to the organization using the Mudra system. As well as the income can be generated by charging on each of the transaction happening over Mudra network, each transaction will cost a percentage of the transaction.

2. Academic campuses

The project can be installed in the academic institutions which will reduce handling of the real currency in the school because the real currency have all kind of threats. The currency can be stolen or can be used for the purposes where it is not supposed to. This system can be used in the primary grades and the high-schools where students are supposed to carry money.

3. Corporate world

This system can be used in the corporate environment where one can get hold of the Mudra card and the services provided by the employer can be availed. Services may include canteen, company's in house products.
