What will it do?
It will be a tool to make a moving timalapse, you mount your camera on it and it can move left, right, up and down.
Who's done what beforehand?
I’ve seen something related to this done before each time done with slight variation. Most of the time it’s only left and right movement.
What materials and components will be required?
Plexyglass, PLA (maybe),battery, screws and two servos.
Where will they come from?
We should have everything needed here in the lab, but incase we don’t I’ll get it at the local hardware shop.
How much will it cost?
Screws are quite cheap, only few krona’s. A plate of plexyglass is around 16 dollars. A sevo is around 13 dollars. Batteries vary in price but their not very expensive.
What parts and systems will be made?
I’ll make a board powered by a battery that will control two servos with an input from a remote.
What processes will be used?
Input devices, output devices, embedded programming, laser cutting, possibly molding and casting, 3D printing and vinyl cutting.
What tasks need to be completed?
I would start of by making the circuit, hooking up 2 stepper motors and 4 buttons. Then I would move on to the programming and make the motors behave to the input of the buttons the way I want. Then I would go by and make all the parts needed to mount the camera, the motors and housing for the circuit.
What questions need to be answered?
I need to make it sturdy enough to hold a camera, at least to be able to hold a gopro without falling apart. I need to figure out how to distribute the weight properly.
What is the schedule?
I will begin with the circuitry and get the fundamentals down, then I’ll start building it using the 3d printer and laser cutter, figuring out how I’ll go by distributing the weight.
How will it be evaluated?
For the project to succeed I will need to get the basic mechanism to work, make it turn left, right, up and down.
