This is one of the funniest assignments, decided milling three objects, a camera because I like photography, the face of my dog because I miss (by take the academy, I'm away from home) and a dragon-fly because the lady who we staying here in Lima likes, and I would like to present him.

Design a 3D mold

For the design of objects I took in mind the diameter and depth of cut of the milling tool, the camera was designed from geometric figures, the face of my dog through the conversion of jpg image vectors and the dragonfly download from Thingiverse.

Another tip to consider when designing is to create a box around the object, with sufficient space to pass the milling tool and higher than the object so that the silicone can fully cover the object.

Machine it

As base material, I used wax and mechanized with the modela and fab modules. The rought milling did with the 1/8 '' bitt and the end milling with the 1/8 '' round tip bitt.

Cast parts from it

To the positive mold i used silicone rubber compoland to make it you just have to mix two same size amounts of liquid together and mix it for 3 to 5 minutes. Like showing the video.

To avoid bubbles, use the Jig bank machine as a vibrating table.

For casting i tested three different material: plaster, resin and hydro-stone casting. For all i mixed two same size amounts.
