For my final project I would like to try an idea, actually I think it would be a concept, anyway i want to try it. I always drew attention to the features and capabilities of the human body in terms of its operation.
My final project is based on a particular property of the human skin and bones, consisting of these can reinforce themself in the necessary areas.
For example, if we look at the hands of a rower or the feets and toes of a ballet dancer, we can see that have thicker skin, callosed and blisters in these areas.
The thickening of the skin is a protective response of the body; to prevent painful blisters appear.
So considering explained previously, I would like to make a merge between the particular capacity of the skin and bones with protection products. I want to apply this concept and achieve the possibility to make products with the capacity to knows when and where need to be reinforced himself, like the human skin and bones.
I think this concept can be apply in so much things, but in this course I would like to make a helmet with the capacity to reinforce himself in the instance of an accident, keeping safe the user and prevent serious damage or even save lifes.
My basic idea is to make a helmet with light and resistant materials, and obviously it can be digital manufactured. I might have ultrasonic sensors that measure the distance from the head to the floor in case of accidents, and subsequently may activate a protective panels that will come out from the helmet. In this way, the helmet could know when and where need to be reinforced to protect the user.
I'm currently taking this course in FAB LAB TECSUP, in Lima-Perú, through CIDI FADA UNA with the support of CONACYT and PARQUE TECNOLOGICO ITAIPU FOUNDATION
