Week 9

Refer to MTM web page, re-draw the case. I use Inkscape to do the design process. The main material is 3mm MDF board. A part of structure combine two 3MM MDF as 6MM thick to incress the strength. Besides, due to the laser cutter working area limitation (only 600*400), what I draw is more than 600MM. So I sepreate it into two parts, add some latch to connect these two parts.
參考MTM網頁,設計滑軌模組,。使用Inkscape軟體完成設計。使用材料為3mm的木板,部分結構將貼合兩片成為6mm厚度,增加結構強度。另外,雷切機尺寸只有600*40mm,我畫的尺寸已經大於600mm,所以長邊須拆該加工,增加一些結構,增加連強度。步進馬達已含滾珠螺桿(Ballscrew)結構,所以預留螺桿孔位及馬達固定螺絲孔,各邊都使用卡榫結構互相接合。滑塊也是使用卡榫接合,中心預留固定螺帽(Ballscrew nut)、螺桿孔位。

使用Inkscape軟體來進行設計

Add some hole to connet the step motor and the screw.
繪製預留的螺桿孔位及馬達固定螺絲孔,及卡榫結構


Laser cut and assemble it.
使用雷射切割木板,並黏合固定結構。


Screw the step motor.
裝上馬達、螺桿等元件,完成滑軌座。


Mill the Fabnet board and wlding it.
使用Roland SRM-20 雕刻Fabnet board,並焊上usb線與排針。


Refer to gestalt node document, understand the pin port definition.
研究gestalt node,瞭接及接腳及功能及接線。


Try to connect the wire and USB Serial console wire. I found the USB pin sequence is not the same order to the gestalt node design, so I need to customization the wire to connect these two board.
嘗試接上排線與USB serial,與電腦連接。注意USB到gestalt node非相同排列,須調整排線使用。


PS. it's not able to drive the step motor due to gestalt board faliure. Just finish "Hello World".
※目前尚未能匯入python及驅動步進馬達前進。


Troubleshooting:

  • The strength of latch connection is not good enough to hold the main structure, maybe need to use bigger laser cutter to do the job or re-design a small one and try again.
    使用卡接方式連接兩段木板強度依然不足,可能需要使用較大台雷切機。或者切掉多餘的滑桿,設計小一些的滑軌模組。
