Proposed Final Project

Every year my husband and I plant a large vegetable garden and we purchase many plants and seeds from the local nursery. Many of you that have gardens know this can get quite costly. I have always wanted to start our garden from seeds in my own ground-box green house; now seems the perfect time to make one.

The final project plan is to design some type of box, located in the garden, that will be used for germinating vegetable seeds. The seeds will have to be started in the middle of March and be ready to plant at the end of May (depending on the type of vegetable of course). Since the nights are still very cold during this time, there must be a heat source to keep the young plants from freezing.

Theidea is to use solar power to charge a battery during the day. This battery will be used to support a heat source so the plants can be protected in the evening when the temperature dips below a certain point.

An attempt was made using LibreCAD to draw the preliminary idea for this project. LibreCAD, in my opionion, is not a very easy CAD package to master in a short amount of time. Instead, the following image was created using the free download of Dassault System's Draftsight and then captured using Windows Snipping Tool. Unfortunately, Draftsight is not available for Linux.

Here is my basic idea .........
