12. Molding and Casting

"INUGAMIKE NO ICHIZOKU" is the most famous mistery in Japan. In the famouse scene of the story a person was killed by burying in a lake. At that time, victim's legs appeared from the water. I want to reproduce the scene. So I tried to make the legs in this week.

Modeling

First, I made a leg with Sculptris. After that, I modified broken meshes with meshmixer.
Second, my Lab had the 2.5mm length endmill. So I used Fusion360 and made a parametoric frame because I had to add the made model inclinations . It could automatically set inclinations if I changed the depth.
Third, I combined the legs made with Sculptris and the frame made with Fusion 360 with 123D Design because It was difficult to load and edit the complex .stl model with Fusion 360.
Fourth, I changed the position of the model to load with fabmodule exactlly.

Molding

I send .stl data to fabmodule and I converted from .stl to .nc(g-code).

output

rough cut
  • cut speed (mm/s): 20
  • plunge speed (mm/s): 10
  • jog speed (mm/s): 40
finish cut
  • cut speed (mm/s): 20
  • plunge speed (mm/s): 10
  • jog speed (mm/s): 40

process

rough
  • cut depth (mm): 1mm
  • tool diameter (mm): 3mm
finish
  • cut depth (mm): 1mm
  • tool diameter (mm): 1mm
  • type: ball end
I milled a wax with KitMill CIP100 produced by originalmind.

rough cut(discharge many dust)

finish cut
After cutting, I notice that the toes of the legs was broken. I think it was cause that the inclinations of the toes sharper than the inclinations of the endmill. So I polish the toes with file.
I pour silicon into milled wax and wait 24 hours.
