Assignment #11 Input Devices

Introduction

At the beginning I wanted to use the Piezo as input device but changed it to the Photosensor after that

• I used eagle as usual to draw the schematics and the PCB, I used the PCB in the Fab Academy archive as reference
• Take care when you are drawing the traces to connect the lines to the tip of the components pins, or else it won't connect when you draw the board

• Here it is after soldering the components, I had to use two 0 ohm resistors to connect the traces as two of them get milled by mistake :D

• I downloaded the C and Make file from the Archive and I used the terminal to program the board as shown in the video

• I connected the FTDI cable after that and searched for a way to read serial via terminal and i find this video which help me very much

• As you can see the input only give me characters not value, I searched for it and i found that the input was sending me the bytes, the terminal interpret the bytes as ASCII which is shown as garbage
• I wanted to use the python file to show the interpret the data, I found this video that teach me how to use python in mac.

• I also made a push button input circuit that control a DC motor in my Final project
• I used the ATtiny 45 and only one push button
• I used the Mosfet transistor to control the DC Motor


• Now after I connect the Mosfet into the ATtiny Analog pins I can control the speed of the rotation





• As you can see if you want to determine the speed of the rotation you have to write it in no. range form 0 to 255, I decided to use half speed so I wrote 130

• I faced a problem after connecting the motor to the board, as it won't work when I push the button
• After rechecking the schematic and the soldering connection, i thought of testing the circuit with a LED



• As you can see the circuit is working fine with the LED but won't work with the DC motor
• After a long period of debugging the circuit I get disappointed as I can't find any thing, I even thought of running the motor without the Micro controller, but then I will lose the feature of controlling the speed of the motor
• Finally and thanks to my friend Mohamad Kamel who helped me in fixing the problem, and after a deep search in Mosfet data sheet we found that we have to redesign the board to add a resistor between the microcontrollar controlling pin and Mosfet, and that what we did :D
