Why me?

Introducing Vic Bell

As a Detroit native, I've grown to become a resourceful writer, educator and community advocate, working between Michigan and Florida, USA. I'm slowly growing an education consulting and business coaching practice: Right Brain Connections (founded in 2011).

In addition to The Concrete Oasis Project, I'm currently writing a grant to support The S.T.E.A.M. Project (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math) for the Osborn Evergreen High School of Alternative Energy and Design in Detroit, Michigan.

The goal is to provide seed money for a financially sustainable, project-learning program. The vision is to renovate and beautify the school, as well as, to rebuild the troubled 48205 demographic community.

As a Fab Academy participant, I seek to push myself past my known potential and invent new technologies (and/or human centered design processes). I wish to share these technologies and processes with the greater community in partnership with the local government, area universities, grassroots organizations, skilled-trades professionals and high school students.

Outside of the USA, my love for other cultures, and how they solve hard problems, has led me to study and volunteer in France, The United Arab Emirates, and Puerto Rico. My hope is that upon completion of the Fab Academy, I may grasp the opportunity to become an international educator, in partnership with the global FabLab community.
