Exercise 18

Invention, Intellectual Property, and Income

For the final project I choose the creative common license name and non commercial share alike. I neither have the rights of the supject myself nor did i fully design the Dalek and I do not mind if someone has fun witch improving it. The good thing with these licenses is that the name itself gives a quick impression of what is forbidden or allowed. One can choose out of 6 predefined licenses which cover different aspects. Another license form is all rights reserved. It basically prohibits anyone else then the right owner to reproduce the work, adapt it, distribute it, display it, or perform in public. This holds unless the owner of the work grants someone permission to do so.

For dissination I would choose the non-profit open source approach by providing the all of my source code and documentation on platforms like e.g. Instructables. Instructables is one of the platforms where maker can put there instructions and files of their prodects such that others can rebuid it.

It would be nice if a would have some time in the future to improve the dalek or adapt the electronics to a custom 3D designed hull. Also the electronics can be redesigned such that it it easier to maintain the robot or power it on/off.
