Exercise 2

Computer Aided Design

Work in progress using Autodesk Fusion 360. These are my firsts attempts to work with Autodesk Fusion 360. It was really compcicated to start using the program. Although I watched some tutorial videos on their homepage it took me a long time to figure out how to use some features or understand why I was not supposed to perform a certain action. The file can be found here.

Then I tried Autodesk 123D DESIGN. It was easier at first but didnt offer a fluent experience as well. Below are some trials to make a mould for a Tardis. But the substract and union operations did not end up well and it felt inconsistent. The latest file can be found here.

Then I moved on to OpenSCAD which provides a code based 2D/3D modeling experience. You can precisely describe what you want to acomplish using code. This however is not intuitive at all at first but finally lead me to the mould of the tardis. The file can be found here.

I used Inkscape to design the suspension for Dalek of my final project. Inkscape is a nice tool to quickly design vector graphics and with an extension for our lasercutter it is easy to send these svg files to the lasercutter. The file can be found here.
