The assignment of this week :
● Evaluate project plan.
● Apply time management techniques.
● Summarise and communicate the essence of a project.
The finished final project presentation vedio is showed as follow:
At the first, I just only want to build a music box to store and play my particularly meaningful events.
On March 15th, I read some reports about the problems on Orchid island, and I went to Orchid island and met Wen who worked hard to solve these environmental problems. So I decided to change my final project to help.
My final project "Exchange Eyes - The beauty and sorrow of the island". What I want to do is exchanging the view of things. Once we are visitors, what we focus on is only scenery. While we wear the silver helmet, and look out from the helmet. It seems we become TAO, who live in here, and what we see is only garbage. So through my culture box, I hope we can reflect on the destruction of the environment, thereby reducing the manufacture of garbage.
I want to make a culture box, which function is reading the tag message from the specific object with NFC(Near Field communication) technology. Then the culture box will plays a unique music/voice about the object.
Silver helmet is a unique helmet of TAO, and they would only wear this helmet on blessings or welcome ceremonies. I will also copy a silver helmet with a VR(Virtual Reality) glasses in it. Than I will capture a VR vedio about Kasiboan. Who finally wears the silver helmet and puts the specific object on the culture box. It will sends a message via bluetooth to the VR glasses to play the VR vedio.
My final project integrates several skills I had learned during fab academcy. The skills I used on my final project are electronics design, embedded programming, 3D printing, Laser cutting, input and output devices, molding and casting, composites, networking and communciations, interface and application programming. I arrange my timeline of finishing all parts of my project with Gantt chart which shows as follow, and each part is working on schedule :
There are several questions I need to think about and answer myself, which discribe below :
1.What is the deadline? How much time do I have left?
I keep up with the progress every week, just shows as the timeline above. I will present my work on June 14th, so I my deadline will be on that day. I only have one week to finish my project.
2.What tasks have been completed, and what tasks remain?
I have finished silver helmet on "composites" week, main board design and test the bluetooth module on "Networking and Communciation" week, design and test the cellphone GUI on "Interface and Application" and 3D printing ship during June 2~4.
There are lots of work need to do for the following week. Such as key chain, eye, VR glasses, power supply board, embedded programming of main board, DFPlayer and speaker module testing, RFID module testing and cellphone GUI testing.
3.How will I complete the remaining tasks in time?
Since I only have 9 days to complete my work, I need to arrange my time properly. So my plan is to use as much as machine I can at the same time. That means I can laser cut the object and design, test the porgram at the same time. Another plan is taking advantage of fragmented time to do the project. So the following week will be a big challenge for me.
4.What has worked?
So far I finish making main board, photocell module, silver helmet, eye and 3D printing ship, the testing of main circuit board, photocell module and bluetooth module was good.
5.What hasn't?
Key chain, VR glasses, power supply board, DFPlayer and speaker, RFID module and cellphone GUI are still working, I am looking forward to see them works well.
6.What questions still need to be resolved?
Although it still has lots of work need to do. I have the confidence to finish my project. There is only one part I am worry about, that is convetering the 360 video. Because I have not contact with this field, so I need to read more documentation and research to build the VR (Virtual Reality) video.
7.What have you learned?
During the fab academy learning, I learned a lots of new skill, such as 3D printing, laser cutting, CNC milling, molding and casting, composites, electronics Design, embedded Programming and interface and application programming, etc. I feel great to learn these skills. The skills I especially like are molding, casting and composites, because these are totally new for me and these skills can use to other fields and projects.
