Week18 : Invention, Intellectual Property, and Income

The assignment of this week :
● Recognise the range of licenses available.
● Formulate future opportunities.

● Recognise the range of licenses available

My final project focus on the environmental issue. So I would like this project could be improved by anyone who also pay attention public welfare issue.
After reading several types of licenses sush as Creative Commons, GPL and MIT, etc. I sumarize these licenses as follow :

1.Creative Commons: This type of license is to increase the amount of openly licensed creativity in “the commons” — the body of work freely available for legal use, sharing, repurposing, and remixing. So it gives permission to the general public to share and use the creative work under all the terms and conditions of copyright of the project. It does not replace copyright, but rely on these to allow modify the terms and conditions of the license of developer's work in the way that best fit to my needs.

2.GPL: This type of license allow developers who write software can release it under the terms of the GNU GPL. When they do, it will be free software and stay free software, no matter who changes or distributes the program. It means I can install and use a program in my computer or as many as I want without limitation. I can also modify the program to suit what I want to do and distribute the original program or after modifying it.

3.MIT: This type of license imposes very few limitations on the reuse of software. It allows software reuse within proprietary software.

I decided to use the Creative Commons license for my final project, because I want to reach the largest number of developers to improve this project.
Creative Commons offers several options to me for my project. The options are as follow :

1.Attribution : You must give appropriate credit, provide a link to the license, and indicate if changes     were made. You may do so in any reasonable manner, but not in any way that suggests the licensor     endorses you or your use.

2.NonCommercial : You may not use the material for commercial purposes.

3.ShareAlike : If you remix, transform, or build upon the material, you must distribute your contributions     under the same license as the original.

4.No additional restrictions : You may not apply legal terms or technological measures that legally     restrict others from doing anything the license permits.

I deside to select the Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International. I think it is the best option for my project.

● Plan for dissemination

After finishing this project, it will be published on the science festival during July 8th and 9th in National Taiwan Science Education Center. I hope it will remind people to pay attention about the environmental protection problem. After that, this project will be placed at the Kasiboan Environmental Protection Exhibition Center on Orchid Island.
