WEEK09-MECHANICAL DESIGN

We would like to design a machine that can write Chinese character, and it worked with water. It can divide to two parts, one is movement part, the other is water pen. Movement part is a xy axis move, many kinds of construction can achieve. Water pen need a pump and put the water in and out.

Part 1 Movement

Three kinds of movement can use. Onmidirection wheels car, two or four wheels car with a move part on it, a core xy system. It is showed in the picture.

1. Onmidirection wheels car.
The car use three onidirection wheels, and it can move as you want. First I choose a DC motor in lab but it can be controlled precised. so small step motor instead.

Put the pump and water pen on it.

The step motor should be used later.

2. Two or four wheels car with a move part.
Two wheels is hard contorlled for me now. So four wheels is a better choose.
A small car have design also used a DC motor.

The pump on the car should be move up and down. Need add an axis movement part on it. It can be a rack and pinion mechanism or a belt transmission structure. Rack and pinion mechanism is stalbe but slow, belt transimission struture can move fast but the velocity of belt isn't accuracy.

3. a core xy system.
A core xy system is advanced and mature. Put water pen on one side of the axis, it can work.

Part 2 Water pen

1. Pump.
Use pump to draw water and transport to the end of pen.

2. Magnetic valve.
A magnetic valve is used to control the water out.
