Molding and Casting

Assignment:

For this week our task is to design a 3D shape , machine it and then mold it and cast it.

Designing:

I used Tinkercad for my 3D design because it easy for designing 3D.

My 3D design shaped as a Christmas tree

I exported my file to  stl then I opened the design file in artcam  I make  3d tool path and save it as “nc” file.

Milling:

As in week five we used the same cnc machine using wax rather than would, we used 3 mm bit for tracing & shaping and conical bit for finishing the wax mold.

Molding :

For casting my mold I am going to use Silicon as my main material but prior to that I have to make sure that I have the right amount of silicon poured in my mold.

A & B are two silicon combined for mold

material used for my casting the wax mold, Silicon A & B,, two plastic cups and a wooden stick

Using a plastic cup we poured water into the wax c  to measure  the quantity of silicon needed to have a ratio 1:1 . Then, we make sure the silicon for A and B having the same amount which we measure to be approximately 30ml  each by using two plastic cups, after that we mix the two Silicon Agents together by pouring them in the wax at the same time.

Pouring the silicon in a plastic cup.

Casting:

Using the amazing  casting resin for making the cast in the mold. The mixing ratio must be 1:1 for the resin while mixing we don't use a lot of time due to it quick coagulation in which we mixed approximately for 30 sec.

Wait about five minute foe the casting result.

The material I used is called "amazing casting"all detail are in the link
