APPLICATIONS and IMPLICATIONS

 

 

Objective:

 

Propose a final project, define it and answer some questions regarding my final project.

 

 

Scope:

 

For my final project, I plan to design an Automated Display Stand.

 

What will it do:

 

The function of my project is to be able to choose a certain item, the device will rotate until the side that contains the items you want will be in front of you.The idea behind it, is to hang some personal items and choosing something in particular by clicking a button. I would like to mention that my original idea was to build a rotating stand for guitars, because I own quite a few. After discussing the idea in the Lab, it turned out to be a large scale project and a little difficult to accomplish. Therefore, I decided to downgrade it to smaller scale.

 

Who's done what beforehand?

 

This device is located in many types of stores such as glasses, jewelry, candy… etc. However, those stands all rotate manually by hand.

 

What materials and components will be required?

Where will they come from?

 

Some of the material and components I will purchase from local stores here in kuwait, and the rest are available in the Lab.

 

 

How much will it cost?

 

- It will cost approximately $81 US/Dollars.

 

 

What parts and systems will be made?

 

- Several Acrylic panels

- A wooden base with caster wheels attached

- PCB Board

- A rotating belt

- Computer-Controlled Cutting (Laser Cutting)

What questions need to be answered?

 

- What are the components needed for a Rotating Tray Mechanism?

- What type of Power Transmission do I need?

- How much voltage is needed for Lighting?

- How do I restrict Wire movement during rotation and avoid tangling?

- What is the size of the Bearing Housing Fit? And what is th clearance for the fit?

 

 

 

What is the schedule?

 

- May 22nd (discussed my final project with a Lab Instructor)

- May 30 th (Made a list of the Components needed for the project)

- June 5-June 8 (Making the design and cutting the parts)

- June 11-June 14 ( Electronic Board and Programming and Assembling the Project)

 

 

How will it be evaluated?

 

From my understanding, I Will be evaluated based on:

 

1- The Design of the structure

2- The durability of the structure and how well the components are put together.

3- The functionality of the device.
