Applications and Implications

Week 17

Assignment :

Propose a final project that integrates the range of units covered.

My Proposal :

What will it do?

My project is a wagon that will follow you by using camera (image processing based on colors) , it will also avoid crashing any obstacle , it will help carry stuff around without any effort. Especially at warehouses , construction sites and supermarkets maybe as a cart.

Who has done what beforehand?

I have seen luggage bags that follow you around carrying your stuff , by wearing a big belt around your waist which is not that comfortable and also had some errors while following. But my idea to use it at warehouses to transport the different volumes of any thing without any effort.

What materials and components will be required?

- Wooden sheet to cut out my final press fit designed wagon

- Camera (pixi-camera)

- Vinyl paper

- Tires

- Switch

- Motion/UltraSonic Sensor

- Attiny45 and Attiny44

- DC Motor

Where will they come from?

Most of them are either available in our lab inventory or Locally available or ordered from outside Kuwait.

How much will it cost?

My project is approximately costing 127.6 USD almost 38.7 Kuwaiti Dinars

* Note : It would be cheaper if I buy all the parts from outside Kuwait.

What parts and systems will be made?

- CNC cut wagon structure will be made out of wood

- Stickers on the wagon would be by using Vinyl

- Electronic Boards

- Acryllic Box for Pixi-Cam and Ultrasonic Sensor

- 3D Printed Logo

What processes will be used?

- CNC for Structure

- Cirquid for milling my controller and boards for DC Motor ,Ultrasonic Sensor and Controller board.

- Vinyl cutter for printing to decorate

- Laser Cutting for Acryllic box

- 3D printer for logo

What tasks need to be completed?

Designing the structure of my wagon as its easy for me and print it using CNC , but still my controller board and other electronic boards for my DC Motor & Ultrasonic sensors need to be designed and soldered. 3D printed ogo and acryllic box as well are remaining to be completed.

What questions need to be answered?

- How accurate will the camera/image process would be ?

- How would I do the steering using tires right and left ?

What is the schedule?

1- Structure (Wooden) 2 Days (07/06/2017)

2- Electronics boards 2 Days (09/06/2017)

3- Assembly & Programming 2 Days (11/06/2017)

4- Error fixes and Improvements 1 Day max (13/06/2017)

How will it be evaluated?

I hope it will be well evaluated , because I think it’s not a simple project , I chose something challenging to prove that it’s possible. And I believe that I will be evaluated well because I did a lot of hard work to prove that I'm doing a challenging project not just an easy one.
