Week 6 – Electronic Design

This week assignment is to redraw hello-world board and add a button switch beside LED then we have to cut the board as per the the schematic diagram and solder the whole circuit parts.  

* Drawing Hello-World Board :

First of all , we will download fab.lbr file from fab lab academy website as a starter for week 6 assignment then we will use “ Eagle Cad “ software to deal with this file and perform the redrawing process , once we open the file we must update the library. After we will add the whole circuit parts one by one referring to the schematic provided in the fab academy web site.

Now we will start to use the library in “ Eagle Cad ” to add the circuit parts and connect them per the above schematic , I start to add the parts easily using the library for software but we have to add the button ( Switch ) and LED in the last step after completing the drawing for the schematic.

Simply in “ Eagle Cad “ you will connect the circuit parts by giving each stream and adding short green line from the command called “Net” from left menu bar , after to rename the stream you should choose command “ Label ” from the left small menu also then you go to the other end which you want to connect and name the end the same name of the other side that you want to connect then the software will ask you do you want to connect them then you choose “ Yes “ and the connection is done.

* Cutting The Board ( Milling ) :

After creation of the redraw of Hello-World schematic , we have to make  a necessary step that assure to give us 100 % no error design and this step little take sometime to try and try rearrange the circuit components positions and press “ Evaluate “ in the left menu bar from “ Eagle Cad “ and finally I get 100 % no errors design.

Now I will take the hello-world design file to the cutting board machine on a USB flash memory to cut the board easily the same way I did for Week 4 assignment.

* Soldering :

Now I will print out the hello-world schematic sheet and keep it beside me while I Start soldering the circuit components easily and the printed sheet make my soldering very easy and save a lot of effort and time.
