Week 2 – COMPUTER-AIDED DESIGN
This week we start using a new online software for 3D design to design any shape we need to help us in designing our final project in 3D , and this online software will help us to reach our final project design in a perfect way. I will explain 2 methods for 3D designing in addition to one software for 2D designing.
* For 3D Design :
The first online software regarding the 3D design called " Tinkercad " which is a free website that you just need to sign up and directly start using the website freely for designing without any installation needed . The website contains many tools for designing and coloring also it contains basic shapes that will be needed for our final project like sphere , pyramid , rectangle , cone , … etc
As a kind of quick training , we start to design a solid sphere from “ basic shapes “ menu called
“ Sphere “.
Then we modify the selected sphere dimensions by mouse as we need for our desired design .
After we try to make a rectangular cross hole through the solid sphere by choosing other shape called “ Box “
Then we will subtract the solid sphere from the solid rectangular to get a sphere with rectangular hole crossing all the sphere .
The second 3D online software I used was called " Onshape " which I will use it for my final project “ Smart Teeth Brush “ and you can easily use it freely with a free signing up and no installation is required also you can save your work at any moment then complete it later from the same point you stopped even if you restart your computer or laptop.
as this 3D online software was so precise and can show to you any favorite view you like to start drawing like : front , right and top views then easily you can change positions and move through them all to draw your design. This online software has many new commands and orders that can create many shapes and lines easily but first you need to sign up in the website and create account to be able to use free version which was enough to me design the smart teen brush with the necessary details of the project .
* For 2D Design :
For 2D design I tried an online website allowing me to paint easily and also without registration or installation needed. This is website called " Youidraw " . It was very helpful and useful website and I use it to design my final project “ Smart Teeth Brush “ with the main parts of the final project which contains switch on/off button beside a battery that provide the electrical circuit with the needed power to start. The painting tools was so easy and very simple like brush or shapes or colors that help me to put a general 2D design for my final project and this online website was much enough for designing 2D without any other complicated softwares but unfortunately this website cannot export the designing drawing for 2D but I take “ hero shot “ after finish my designing.
