PROJECT NAME:
LASER INTELLIGENCE
What will it do?
My final project will be useful for a certain segment of people. It will trace the lost or forgotten items within rooms, offices, kitchens and workshops. By using the smart phone, the person will select the item such as ID, wallet, document or any type of tool. And then, a device which is hanged on the wall will light a Laser towards the chosen item area with an exact coordination.
Who has done what beforehand? At the early days of FabLab academy, I have thought of an idea about smart phone charging system. This idea helps the individual to recharge his smart phone without using any external device or support method such as wire chargers of portables. The concept is to recharge the smart phone using a permanent hook like a spinner. One this spinner spins around itself, the phone will start to recharge. Unfortunately, this cannot be done easily due to the complexity of the gearing system inside this device. In addition, it cannot recharge easily using the effort of the human hands.
What materials and components will be required? 1) Laser Beam Where will they come from? All the materials and components will be found inside the FabLab inventory.
How much will it cost? The total cost of the materials and components will be approximately $75.00 which is optimistic and affordable to make the replications.
What parts and systems will be made? 1) The electronic copper board. What processes will be used? 1)Computer-aided design for the PCB Design. What tasks need to be completed? 1) Designing Circuit Board. What questions need to be answered? 1) Will the laser rotate to all the directions? What is the schedule? June 5 – Project Design How will it be evaluated? My project will be evaluated based on the accuracy and flexibility. The device should be well assembled with an acceptable functionality. All the parts that need to be self-assembled have to be made by me and cannot be taken from other devices that exists in the market. These are the criteria that my project will be evaluated with.
The other idea came to me which concerns of health and safety. It is a device that draw a laser on the wall to direct the people to the nearest exit door when there is an emergency. But there is a problem, some types of emergencies are not applicable with this device such as fire and smoke. The laser will not reach the wall due to the smoke so it will not show the exit doors for the people to exit.
For the same approach, the final decision is the same laser device. At this time, it will trace the items inside the rooms like kitchens, offices and workshops. If anyone forgot the place he put his item or tool, and if someone is looking at the shelves and confused due to the large number of them, this device will point a laser on the item or area very quick by using a smart phone application.
