Week-20 :- Project development
1) what tasks have been completed, and what tasks remain?
I have completed the matrix display board with 100 Led's.
The amplifier is designed and completed for left and right channels. The CAD drawings
for the enclosure and front panel were designed and ready for machining.
The remaining task is Laser cutting, 3D printing, vinyl cutting and embedded programming.
2) what has worked? what hasn't?
The amplifier, matrix display board, satshakit were working fine. Almost the coding of single
band is completed, but need to modify it to work for 10 bands.
3) what questions need to be resolved?
The coding using FFT was very difficult for me. Need to resolve this in coming days.
The processor available with us is not so fast for sampling. Need to go out of the box.
4) what will happen when?
This project is a value product which runs on 5v DC supply/USB port.
Its a robust design and should run for atlest 20 years. All the designs and testing of electronic components are done, hence project could be finished in one week.
5) what have you learned?
I had learned basic part of the coding used to map the signal strength. This project pushed
me to my limits. I am planing to push the current project to 10 bands with simple analog circuit or complex FFT coding.
6) Documentation during development
I have noted down each steps. This helped in further progress of the project. The priliminary
step was the designing part followed by the realisation of each parts/modules.
7) Demand- vs supply-side time management
I am planing to gift this unit to my parents, therby taking them to this new digital era where cassette deck no longer exists.
8) Spiral Development
Once the proect is developed, the modifications can be incorporated. The followoing are the few
additional designs I would like to incorporate with the existing one.
(a) Easily detachable speaker connector.
(b) An additional 3.5mm jack for the headphones listeners.
(c) A aluminium anteena for the FM radio.
(d) A bluetooth module to pair with mobile phones.
(e) An USB input for flashing the microcontroller if required.
9) System integration
All parts were designed for push fit, hence it was so easy to assemble each module. The wires used for
the projects was shielded to ground therby reduce the noise.
