//Evaluate and select 2D and 3D software.
//Demonstrate and describe processes used in modelling with 2D and 3D software.
// ILLUSTRATOR // First of all, I want to do my project's logo. I'm very familiar with Adobe Illustrator so I decided to use it for this purpose. I wanted a logo that represent I little bit my project. It is going to be called "Data Portrait"; for this I'm only going to use the first capital letters; after this, I downloaded a nice open source tipography called "Aroly", then I used a 3D effect so I can extrude a surface.

// PHOTOSHOP // I used Photoshop to compress the size of the image, first you have to resize the image. I changed it by 800 pixels and then I chose the option "Save for web"

// RHINOCEROS // After I finished my 2D drawing, I started with the 3D model. First, I downloaded the model of a person, but I only need the face, so I imported to Rhinoceros and then I made a BOOLEAN OPERATION of the mesh, in order to get the part that I wanted.

After got only the face, I used this part for modeling my mask; to make an easier the modification, I changed the number of polygons of the mesh, for this I used the command REDUCE MESH until I obtained a simple surface which will be easier to work with.

// AUTODESK MAYA // When I was studying my master degree at IAAC, I learned how to use Autodesk Maya, for this time I decided to use this software because is easier for me to edit a mesh in a very organic way. So after I exported the volume of the mask from Rhinoceros I imported it to Maya. In this interface, you can choose between select a face, a vertice or a vertex; and if you want to manipulate them you have to extrude them and finally move.

// AUTODESK MAYA // My idea is to fabricate a mask that interact with the data that I decide to show through the face. Depending on the amount of information, it will expand, change color, activate some sensor, etc., as you can see in the video.
MOVE
// AUTODESK MAYA // In Maya there are three different ways to work, if you press number 1 your objects will become very rigid; number 3 will convert everything into very organic; and if you press number 2 it will be in a middle point. I had some problems when I exported my file to Sketchfab platform, because although I was working with the organic way, it exported to the rigid way. I'm working to find the solution now. By the way, if you click in the 3D view you can download my file. Not my final project, but it represent my idea.
