Project background and description

Spirograph drawing machine was invented in about the 19th century.Here, in our project we incorporate concepts of the machine to design and make our own drawing machine.

Digital Designing and modelling

As described in our concept, we designed three main rails and different types of gears to add flexibility in our drawing outcome.We used Rhino for modelling our machine design.

Fabrication Process [ Mechanical Design]

Using machines to make machines

We plan to laser cut the gears amd mill our rails for the final machine. The materials we plan to use is Acrylic for the gears and wood for the base and Rails, with the option of 3dprinting more parts.

Electronics

Electronics [ Stepper Motor]

Integrating Electronics to the machine

Here , we integrate a stepper motor at the central core of the machine. This is the Brain of our machine. It rotates all the gears from 1 central gear attached to the motor. We use an Arduino to power and rotate the motor.
