what will it do?
The Sacrèm box is an exposure unit for screenprinting applications. It's made of two parts, a main unit with the fluorscent tubes (where the frames are exposed) and a small case wich is the interface of a programmable timer. Keeping this two parts separated allows to make some changment easier.
The Sacrèm box beta: works as a simple exposure unit, you can set the timer on the interface and once you push the start button it will burn the screen until the end of the timer, when it happens, it will turn off the uv lamps and on the safe lamp. A timer setting can be stored and reused.
The Sacrèm box 1.0: will have additionally a vacuum frame and controlled vacuum system (thanks to a pressure sensor and relays), a uv sensor that allows a light integrator for the exposure.

- Assemble the frame
- Attach to it the neoprene
- Seal the frame
- Assemble the frame to the main structure
- Test the pressure sensor
- Lasercut and solder the uv/pressure sensor board
- Upgrade the firmware with vacuum control routine based on the pressure sensor
- Upgrade the firmware with light integrator routine based on Uv sensor data
- The pressure/uv sensor board need a special case? (it will be placed where the vacuum will be created, between the neoprene and the glass)
- Where I should attach the neoprene to the frame (at the top, on the internal side, or on the external)?
how much will it cost?
what parts and systems will be made? /
what processes will be used?
I will make the pcbs of the main board, a 3x 7segs display multiplexer board and a battery powered bard with uv and pressure sensor. These boards will be lasercutted with a Roland fiber/co2 lasercutter. The main structure will be milled with a shopbot. The electronic's case will be lasercutted with a co2 lasercutter (gcc spirit gls).
what tasks need to be completed?
I already made the beta version of the sacrem box. For the 1.0 version the materials have been bought, the electronic case has a shuko socket connected to the relays module in order to control the plugged vacuum pump and the main board has the rf receiver (for the pressure and uv sensors data). The tasks that need to be completed are:
what questions need to be answered?
how will it be evaluated?
The Sacrèm box will be evalueted on the time of the exposure, the reliability of the timer, the usability of the interface and mainly on the quality of the stencil produced (no undercutting effect, no lost of details, resistance during long prints, etc.).
