18. Invention, intellectual property and income

I intended the final project as a contribution to a fundamental cause: the conservation of nature. Besides, there are currently no commercial ideas behind my study of the freezer/cooler so, the biggest benefit I might expect is getting other people involved and having other people talking about me, about my experience at the Fab Academy, about my knowledge of digital fabrication, greatly expanded by this wonderful, though challenging experience.

I would therefore licence what I did for the final project with the same licence used throughout this site and that you can find at the footer here below: the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International License.

An alternative could have been the Attribution 4.0 International licence briefly summarized by the following image.

Attribution would be granted but without the constraint of Share alike and leaving open the possibility to use the work for commercial purposes.
I consider the commercial issue a key issue that needs to be regulated. Deciding whether or not to waive copyright and related rights in one’s work is not a simple matter. Therefore, stating clearly from the beginning that I do not wish others to exploit my work for commercial benefits, certainly is a good first step.
